vampire + shapeshifter + romance observations

So I just got done reading Kalayna Price's Once Bitten I enjoyed it but I found that I was confused through most of the book. I have noticed since getting into Paranormal Romance books since 2000 or so that there are two maybe three main catagories these worlds happen in. One is basically our reality where norms have accepted the supernatural or they have come out into normal society and the rules and laws of the supernatural world are pretty straight forward and you can follow this throughout the book, sometimes characaters may reveal things you didn't know about the super society but the main character learns this as you learn it. Other books go about setting up a new reality that can either be it's own base for the whole book or that it mingles with what we know as our reality. When this happens a lot of time I feel lost in these types of world where I don't know the rules and the characters either have no clue either so you are left feeling the same confusion the character has to what's going on or there just isn't enough details for you to get a good sense of what is going on in this world, what are the rules how do they interact with humans or others.
I much prefer the first way of developing a book Laurel K Hamilton does this extremely well as does Sherrilyn Kenyon. I find that it's easier for me to get into the book and stay interested if I'm going through a whole book trying to figure out how the characters interact with each other what are the rules of engagement I seem to lose some interest. Price's book is like the second example I gave and it made it hard to follow the storyline and relate to the main character. She has a second book in the Haven series but I don't know if I am going to read it or not. Now I did read her Grave Witch series and I found it better written and much more enjoyable the concept seemed to be more solid the World described was easier to relate to and the interaction between characters were well written and thought out and there was a pretty good intimate scene in there too. I can't wait to read more of this series and see where she takes the characters.

Rachel Caine Ghost Town release!

So I first heard about Rachel when I was getting ready to go to Ravecon to help run the LARP (live action role playing) I loved Ravecon it was so much fun and it's more of a book convention which I really enjoyed. Anyway she was the star quest author so I started reading her Morganville Vampire series and loved it. I've become pretty picky about my series that I get into but her books wrap around your mind and you get sucked into them trying to figure out what is going on what the powers that be are hiding. I also love the relationships between the 4 main characters I have to admit I love Claire but I think Eve is my favorite she's just so happy for a little Goth girl.If you haven't read this series yet you should go and pick yourself up a copy of Glass House. She is having a release party for the 9th book in the series Ghost Town out now so if you are a fan go pick up a copy!!!

Weightloss

So I've been working out for 3 days a week 30 minutes each on my Wii with Jillian Michael's 2009 Ultimate fitness workout. So I started out at 265 three weeks ago and the next week I weighed 266 and today I weigh 268. So I'm a little depressed and don't know what I'm doing wrong. So I'm going to tory portion control on what I'm eating. We have switched to organics and I've stopped buying processed foods. I enjoy cooking and so I like making things from scratch and that should be helping our diet.I hate getting discouraged but I am so I decided to start this blog to help me keep up with the exercise and to keep going and to try and reach my goal weight.
Please if you are going to leave comments leave positive ones I already have enough negative comments in my own head. thank you.
